Soil and leaf litter fungi, antibacterial activityAbstract
In this paper the antibacterial activity of the culture of 14 strains of soil and leaf litter
fungi was evaluated by the broth microdilution method. Two of them, Menisporopsis
theobromae and Idriella sp. showed bacterial activity. M. theobromae showed bioactivity
against Staphylococcus aureus, whereas Idriella sp. showed bioactivity against
Staphylococcus aureus and two other bacteria of medical interest: Escherichia coli and
Pseudomonas aeroginosa; as well as three phytopathogen bacteria (Erwinia carotovora, E.
carotovora pv. atroseptica and Agrobacterium tumefaciens).
