Abstract

Mycelial growth of 19 strains of Pleurotus in pine wood shaving was studied. With
base to the rapidity of growth 4 strains of P. ostreatus were selected to obtain new strains
through inter-breeding. Monosporic cultures were isolated, which intercrossed to obtain 20
strains intraespecimen and 6 strains interspecimen. The four strains of P. ostreatus and the
faster among the obtained strains (7) were cultivated on pine wood shaving and barley straw
as control. Time of primordia formation, number of harvests, biological efficiency, rate of
production and size of basidiomas were evaluated. The biological efficiencies fluctuated
between 27,98% to 53,53% in pine wood shaving and between 66,26% to 106,04% in
barley straw; rates of production between 0,63 to 1,13 and 1,53 to 2,46 for pine wood
shaving and straw of barley respectively. Most of fruit bodies displayed pileus of 5 to 10 cm of
diameter.
