Abstract

Monosporic cultures of three strains of Pleurotus djamor vars. djamor (IE-116),
roseus (IE-116) and salmoneostramineus (IBUG-75) were obtained, their mating types were
determined and the monokaryons with the fast and good mycelial growth were selected to
make interespecimen crosses. Parental strains and six crosses were cultivated on barley straw
in the pilot plant. Primordia initiation in parental strains were observed between 9 to 11 days
and 8 to 13 days in the crosses. On average 3 to 5 flushes were obtained, reaching biological
efficiencies of 53.6 to 86.4 % in the parentals strains and 73.6 to 114.4 % in the crosses, while
rates of production were 0.89 to 1.44 % and 1.22 to 1.9 % and yields of 11.5 to 17.4 % and
17.5 to 26.9 %, rspectively. Fruiting body sizes varied from 2 to 20 cm for pileus diameter, the
majority less than 10 cm. Dikaryons of djamor vs. salmoneostramineus, djamor vs. roseus and
one of roseus vs. salmoneostramineus exceded the parental strains productivities , and
therefore have possibilities of commercial cultivation.
