The Natural Resources Laboratory is the only research and technology
transfer center regarding edible mushrooms at the Republic of Panama. Its creation
and development are linked to Doctor Gastón Guzmán. He and his colleagues from
the Instituto de Ecología A. C. at Xalapa, Veracruz, had supported this center through
activities such as mushroom field collections, trainings and joint research projects. Due
to this support, the Laboratory has reached an important level, national and
international projection and has contributed to Panama´s development by means of
research lines on the edible mushroom biotechnology.
