Abstract

Ten new localities in Mexico from the States of Michoacan, Mexico, Veracruz
and Yucatan of the tropical fungus Pseudofistulina radicata (Schw.) Burdsall are re
corded, as well as the first report of this species in Guatemala. The locality from
the State of Mexico, belongs to the Valley of Mexico and for its fitogeographical
iaportance is discussed, as well as other tropical fungi found in that region. The
popular use of this fungus in Guatemala and El Salvador, where it is sold in
markets is also discussed. A complete taxonomic description of the species is also
presented.
