Abstract

In order to amplify the knowledge of systemic mycosis in Mexico, and
characterize the posstble associations with pulmonary disease, different inmunological
tests (precipitation, complement fixation, ELISA, skin test)
were performed in 98 patients from different regions of the Mexican Kepublic
hospitalized in a National Institute of Respiratory Diseases (which concentrates
patients from the Mexican Republic), where 95°/o of the patients
had chronic tuberculosis. Seven crude fungal antigens (histoplasmin, blastomvcin,
coccidioidin, paracoccidioidin, candidin, sporotrichin and aspergillin)
and 3 punned antigens (deproteinized polysaccharide protem complexes D-PPC): D-PCC-histo, D-PPC-cocci, and D-DPPC-paracocci were tested. The
results indicated an immunosensitizing contact between patients and fungi
and a greater reactivity of crude antigens than purified antigens was observed
in the immunological tests used.
