Effect of the Thiabendazole on the mycoflora of the grains of Triticale in storage tests

This study was made in order to see the viability of grains of some Triticale
varieties under the action of the fungicide Tecto 60 (Thiabendazole),
with two temperatures (20°C and ambient temperature), and two relative
humidities (75% and 85%). In both cases controls were observad without
fungicide. The period of storage was shorter in those treatment with 85%
relative humidity. The results showed significan! differences among the varieties
in the storage conditions used in this work. The utilized fungicide
was efficient for controlling "storage fungi", as these fungi were not present
alortg the storage tests. On the other hand, the fungicide was not as efficient
to control certain of the "field fungi", such as Alternaría spp. that were present
all the time the tests were carried out with or without the fungicide;
although their incidence decreased at the end of the storage tests. Fusarium
spp., which were present in smaller amount than Alternaría spp. in the initial
mycoflora of the grains, practically were absent at the end of the storage time.
