Abstract

The effect of brocoli (Brassica o/eracea L.) rotation and the incorporation of its res1dues to soil alone and
combinated with mulching with black polyethylene on the population (number of viable mycorrhizic
propagulcs/100 g) and colonization by indigenous mycorrhizal fungi on onion (A/hum cepa L ) was evaluated in
field. These practices resulted in a sig nificant reduction in the number of viable mycorrhit;icaJ propagulcs: however
the colonization of onions plants by the mycorrhizal fungi was significantly higher in the brocoli treatments
