The phytogeography of the Boletineae (Basidiomycetes, Agaricales) based on Mexican species

The author's observations permit a comparison of the distribution
areas of a great number of species of Boletineae in order to discuss
their phytogeographic relationships in Mexico. This is possj ble due to the
majority of Boletineae species are ectomycorricic. Six groups of s,ecies
with phytogeographic relationships are distinguished: 1) r el icts and disyunctions;
2) continuity with northern regions of the Golf of Mexico ; 3)
continuity with neotropics ; 4) continuity with northwestern Nort America;
5) continuity with Australia, New Zealarrl SE Asia and Polinesia; 6) unnatural
relationships and 7) historical relationships. Relatively few
species or group of species permit demonstrable conclusions in historical
phytogeography, time and precise direction of migrations , although i t is
evident that mycoflora, at l east that of Mexican Boletineae is a combination
of elements of an extraordinary heterogeneous origin
