This paper reports results obtained from three laboratory methods. A sawdust
médium method was used to determine the type of rot, and a malt agar —block and a
soil-block method were followed to evalúate the aggressiveness against pine and sweetgum
wood of the isolates. All the isolates produced a white-rot reaction.Daedalea confragosa
LB-39 was slightly aggressive against pine wood under the conditions of both malt
agar-block and soil-block methods, moderately aggressive and higly aggressive against
sweetgum wood under the conditions of the malt agar-block and soil-block methods,
respectively. Fomes ulmarius LB-181a, Favolus brasihensis LB-160, and Polyporus occidentalis
LB-141 were slightly aggressive against pine and sweetgum wood after both malt
agar-block and soil-block methods.
