Abstract

Results obtained on the record of toxic peptides of Amonita phalloides Fr., A. virosa Fr.
(Section Phalloidae) and A. bisporigera Atk. (Amidellae) in México are presented. We
discuss the importance of this metabolites as chemotaxonomic markers, as well as the
use of bioassay as a measure of toxicity of the species studied. This work is part of a
general plan for developing criteria to know the properties of biological activity and the
chemical register that support taxonomic confirmation of several Mexican species of
Genus Amonita. Herbarium material and information to develop this study are kept in
the Herbario Nacional (MEXU) at Instituto de Biología, Herbario de la Facultad de
Ciencias (FCME) UNAM and Herbario de la Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas,
Instituto Politécnico Nacional (ENCB).
