33 aborted bovine foetuses were examined utilizing routine techniques for
bacteriology, mycology, virology, inmunofluoresce antibody and aflatoxin B,
detected. In 9 foetuses it was founded aflatoxin Bj with other microorganism
(Brucella abortus, Streptococcus beta hemolitico, Candida albicans, Infectious
viral rinothacheitis) in the others 24 foetuses aflatoxin Bt was observed as the
only cause for abortion. In a further study to determine how the aflatoxin reaches
the fetus, two pregnant cows were sacrificad and their liver and placenta
and fetal tissues (liver and kidney) were tested for aflatoxin detection. Aflatoxin
Bj was detected in the liver of the pregnant cow (15-20 p.p.b.), some cotyledons
(10-15 p.p.b.) and in the liver (15-20 p.p.b.) and kidney (10-15 p.p.b.) of the
foetuses. In the food that these animáis ate there was found aflatoxin Bj
(100-150 p.p.b.).
