Abstract

Samples of American bisont (Bison bison) foetuse of Chapultepec Zoo in
Mexico City, were routinarely tested for bacteriology, mycology, histopatology,
unmunofluorescence antibody and aflatoxins detected. The results obtained were
significantly of an aflatoxicosis, because it was found in Iive1- 10-15 p.p.b. and
in kidney 15-20 p.p.b. of B1 aflatoxin in addition to the histological changes
observed in this foetal tissues. The possible ways for income of aflatoxines in
the foetuse are discussed. This is the first report in the world literature on
abortion of American bisont due to aflatoxicosis.
